ROBERT P. KING has practiced law with
the firm since 1985, concentrating his
practice in the areas of litigation and
workers' compensation.
Mr. King's practice involves primarily the
representation of employers in workers'
compensation matters and he regularly
appears before administrative agencies
and the Industrial Commission of Ohio,
including hearings before district hearing
officers, staff hearing officers and the
Industrial Commission. Mr. King also
represents employers before the
Self-Insured Employers Evaluation Board
as well as the Bureau of Workers'
Compensation.
Mr. King also represents employers at all
levels of the court system including trials
before Common Pleas Courts, Courts of
Appeals and the Ohio Supreme Court.
Mr. King advises both state fund
employers and self-insured employers on issues such as compensability of claims,
self-insured complaints, self-insured administrative rules, and the administration of
claims.
Mr. King received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Davidson College in 1980 with a
degree in Economics. He received his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the
University of Toledo College of Law in 1983. Mr. King has practiced law in Toledo
continuously since 1983.
Mr. King is a frequent lecturer throughout Ohio at various institutes and seminars
presented by bar associations, the Northwestern Ohio Self Insurers Association and
the Ohio Self Insurers Association. Mr. King is the current Second Vice President
and past three-term President of the Northwestern Ohio Self Insurers Association.
Mr. King also is a past two-term chairman and a current member of the Workers'
Compensation Committee of the Toledo Bar Association. Currently, Mr. King is a
member of the Toledo and Ohio State Bar Associations.
Outside the practice of law, Mr. King has been active in community affairs, including
Toys for Tots. Mr. King has led over twelve toy drives collecting toys and donations for
the northwestern Ohio Toys for Tots program. Mr. King is married to his wife Anna and
has three children, Katie, Kelly and Brian.
