JOHN
F. WETLI has practiced with the firm continuously since 1969,
concentrating his practice in the areas of general litigation; trusts,
estate planning and probate administration; and business law.
Mr. Wetli has litigated at all levels (trial and appellate) of the
federal and Ohio courts, representing plaintiffs in personal injury
and wrongful death actions, and individuals and businesses in probate,
contract, business and general litigation. He has successfully litigated
actions involving a wide variety of claims, including: asbestos
claims, construction disputes, securities-broker malpractice, eminent
domain, quo warranto, claims involving corporate control, attorney
malpractice, multi-piece rim tire explosion, a wide variety of business
and contract disputes, and he has significant experience with alternate
dispute resolution procedures (i.e. mediation and arbitration).
Mr. Wetli also has extensive experience in individual estate planning,
trusts, and probate administration, and probate litigation. He counsels
and assists in the formation and general representation of various
business entities, including corporations, partnerships, limited
liability companies and non-profit corporations.
Mr. Wetli earned his Bachelor of Arts degree (majoring in Political
Science) from the University of Notre Dame in 1966 and received
his Juris Doctor degree from the Case Western Reserve School of
Law (where he served on its law review) in 1969.
Outside the practice of law, Mr. Wetli has been active in community
affairs, as a founding trustee of Hospice of Northwest Ohio, trustee
and past president of the Alzheimer’s Association of Northwest
Ohio, and a member of Gesu Church where he has served as president
of its parish council and school board. Mr. Wetli enjoys golf, fly-fishing,
international travel and reading. Mr. Wetli is married and has three children.
